Dear Colleagues, Partners, Clients, Residents of our city! In 2018, our plant will celebrate its 25th anniversary. I wanted to write: “celebrate”, but then I thought that we are not particularly used to celebrating anniversaries. We created our enterprise “from scratch”, built it in the middle of nowhere, not even in a field, but in a swamp. We keep on building it all together: workers, engineers, and business owners alike. We are not a family business, even though the shareholders make it a point to greet all the workers by shaking their hands and know most of them by name.
But we are like a family, because we all aspire to improve our lives by making our personal achievements count towards the common goal. We are all residents of our small but remarkable city. We care about the air our children and parents breathe. We wish that our rivers were full of fish, and our skies were not polluted by the smokestacks. That is why, if some new technology emerges on the global oil refining scene that guarantees even stricter environmental standards, we, regardless of financial costs, introduce it into our production process.
Schools, hospitals, outpatient clinics and everything else associated with the lives of not only our families, but also our neighbors is incredibly important. After all, there is life outside of a work shift! It is paramount that the girls on the streets smile, the young men are athletic, the elderly are healthy, and the children receive an education no worse than that in the capitals. Taking care of these issues is our top priority. Our productive work is designed to improve the quality of life in our beautiful and welcoming city. We will probably celebrate the anniversary all the same, because we have something to be proud of. And because we are not ashamed of what we have been doing all these years and still continue to do. Because we live in a nice, clean city and breathe fresh air. Because our children, we hope, will also want to stay in their native land and work at our plant. Because we have faith in our plant, which has turned into an iconic landmark for the city and the region.
With kind regards to all those with whom I work and live.
